Synthesis and turnover of PaiI. (A) PA14 cultures were grown planktonically to an OD600 of 0.45 (0 min). Then, KNO3 was added to a final concentration of 100 mM and the cultures were shifted to anoxic conditions. Total RNA was extracted at the indicated times followed by the detection of PaiI by Northern-blotting. 0.6 ng of in vitro transcribed PaiI (126 nt) was loaded as a positive control (C).
