The cross-shelf (CS) flux is negative indicating that the flux is out of the shelf domain, while all the other fluxes are positive, indicating fluxes into the shelf. The values between parentheses correspond to the 95% confidence interval. The mean volume transport in sverdrups (106 m3 s−1) and standard deviation (based on monthly mean values) for all MAB estuaries and the SW, NE, and CS shelf boundaries are, respectively, 0.017 ± 0.005, 0.474 ± 0.173, 0.603 ± 0.246, and 1.09 ± 1.07.
