Topical Aldara application induces a chemokine and cytokine protein response in the brain as early as four hours after treatment. Biolegend LegendPlex protein array analysis was performed on perfused brain samples from mice treated daily with Aldara or control cream. Samples were collected 4 hr, 12 hr, 1 d, 3 d and 5 d after initial treatment. The expression profile of 8 chemokines (A) and 4 cytokines (B) was assessed. Samples below the limit of detection were set to the limit of detection. N = 4 mice per group. Data are presented as mean (+/−SD) of absolute protein values. Data were log transformed and significance was determined using one-way ANOVA with post-hoc Student’s t-test with Bonferroni’s multiple testing correction. *P < 0.05; **P < 0.01; ***P < 0.001.
