Locations in the genome of 20- to 24-nt VZV sncRNAs obtained from VZV-infected cells. Sequences were identified by manual alignment (2nd analysis in Table 3). A large portion of these sequences are present in the last 1/3 of the VZV genome, with a concentration in the coding and promoter and downstream regions of VZV transcriptional activator ORF62. The upward arrows indicate the sncRNA coded for by the positive strand and the downward arrows indicate the negative strand of the VZV genome. sncRNA4 was only found in the NGS analysis of productively infected neurons; all of the other sequences were found in VZV-infected neurons and fibroblasts.
