Total lipid extracts were fractionated using a two-phase extraction method (34). TAGs were separated by TLC as shown in Fig. 3 and LCFATAG analyzed by GC. Data are presented for the different C:D (i.e., for the different lipid number, where C is the number of carbon atoms in the FA and D is the number of double bonds in the FA) as percent (%) of the total of LCFATAG. Mean values ± SD for the LCFATAG (%) of patients and controls are shown for each C:D.
