A model of cell differentiation in glioma cells expressing different levels of CD44 in an HA-rich environment. The model summarizes the results of this study, which shows that in an HA-rich environment, the different directions of differentiation occurs in cell lines expressing different levels of CD44. The effects of the HA-CD44 interaction on the levels of HAS1 and HAS2 are also shown. Orange and purple are used to indicate the effect of HA on cell dedifferentiation in mature glioma cells (CD44^high) and stem cell-like glioma cells (CD44^low).
