TCP transcription factors are sumoylated in a reconstituted sumoylation assay in E. coli. (A) E. coli sumoylation assay with MYB30 and HsfB2b, two known SUMO conjugation substrates. Both proteins were fused to the T7-tag; only when HIS-SUMO1^GG and not HIS-SUMO1^AA is co-expressed are both proteins SUMO-modified in E. coli. The substrates were detected using an antibody against the T7-tag. The molecular weights (kDa) for the protein standards are indicated on the left.
