Growth curves of strain B6-2 and its two derivatives in citric acid (A) and LB medium containing 1% p-xylene (B). (A) The overnight culture samples (1%) were transferred into 100-well plates containing 300 μl mineral salts medium containing 0.5% citric acid as the sole carbon source. The growth of the strains was determined by the OD₆₀₀ value using a Victor2 (PerkinElmer) spectrophotometer. (B) The strains were grown in LB medium in the presence of 1% p-xylene. Growth was monitored by measuring the absorbance at 620 nm. Data represent the averages from three parallel replicates ± standard deviations (SDs).
