Each plot depicts the mean wing phenotype (with 95% confidence intervals) in each genetic background when allele 1 (given at the top of each panel) is paired with allele 2 (x-axis) in diploid flies. (A) vg^83b27 exhibits complete or nearly complete complementation with other vg alleles, consistent with previously reported patterns of transvection for this allele. (B and C) However, this is not the case for other alleles involved in transvection, such as vg^2a33 and vg¹.
