Particle sizes, zeta potentials and transfection efficacies of PF14 analogues with modified charge and hydrophobicity. (a) Hydrodynamic diameter and zeta potential of complexes prepared with PF14 analogues and pDNA. (b) The pDNA transfection efficacy PF14 and its analogs was evaluated in cultured CHO cells. The most efficient transfection was mediated by the vectors with the highest charge density (PF6 > PF14-O > PF14 > jetPEI). Decrease of the carbon chain length of PF14 also decreased the transfection. Statistical analysis is presented in the Supplementary Data.
