Association between transcription speed and cellular importance of genes. (a) Transcription Factor proteins (TFs) with a large number of target genes have a high transcription speed. (b) Transcription Factor proteins with a high transcription speed have targets with high mean transcription speed. (c) Selection of significantly enriched or depleted GO terms. (d) Membranic proteins are transcribed more slowly than genes encoding exclusively cytosolic proteins.
