Representative intracellular calcium tracings at taut and optimal muscle length (A). Systolic calcium (B) and calcium transient amplitude (C) are increased at a higher preload in both sham and banded animals, and are not significantly different between surgical groups. Stimulation to CD50 (D) and peak calcium to 50% decline (E) do not significantly change with a change in preload, but are both significantly increased in banded animals compared to sham at both preloads studied. Data collected at 2.5 mM [Ca2+]o, 37°C.
