Nod2^−/− mice show heightened inflammatory cytokine response during A. baumannii infection. WT or Nod2^−/− C57BL/6 mice were intranasally instilled with A. baumannii (AB-19606) or PBS control (n = 4–5 mice per group). At 4 h post infection, mice were euthanized and BAL was obtained from these mice. Levels of various cytokines (a) TNF-α, IL-12p70, and MIP2 and (b) Gro-α, IL-23, MCP-1, IL-17 and IL-1β were analyzed in BAL by Luminex assay. *Represents p ≤ 0.05.
