Behavioral analysis of dbt NLS mutants demonstrates strong effects of dbt^K/R stNLS on behavior, no effects for dbt^K/R NLS⁻ and dbt^K/R stNLSNLS⁻ flies and shorter periods for dbt^WT NLS⁻ flies. Flies with the indicated genotypes (timGAL4>/+; UAS-dbt-myc/+) were entrained for at least three days in LD 12hr: 12hr and then released into DD. Representative actograms and periodograms for the indicated genotypes are shown. All of the dbt^K/R NLS⁻ and dbt^K/R stNLS NLS⁻ mutants exhibited normal circadian periods, while the dbt^K/R stNLS mutants exhibited lengthened periods even compared to dbt^K/R, and the dbt^WT NLS⁻ flies exhibited short circadian periods.
