Proteolytic activity of the fungal strains was assessed by (A) Halo formation on SM agar plates containing 0.1% Tween 20 following 48 h of growth at 37°C followed by another 48 h at room temperature. (B) Degradation of azocasein by A. fumigatus culture filtrates (CFs). The absorbance of the released azo dye was measured spectrophotometrically at 450 nm. (^∗P < 0.05, ^∗∗P < 0.0001).
