Figure 11

Roles of V. cholerae FadR and the new ligand-binding site 2 in bacterial virulence. Effects exerted by V. cholerae FadR on colonization in the infant mouse model. ΔfadR mutants containing vector control, VcfadR and VcfadR (Δ42) were co-inoculated into infant mice with wild-type at 1:1 ratio. After 18-h colonization, the colonized bacteria were enumerated on selective agar plates. Competitive index is calculated as output ratio of mutant to wild-type normalized against input ratio of mutant to wild-type. Horizontal line: mean of CI. **Student t-test p < 0.01; ns, no significance.
