Average ± SE changes in arteriolar diameter (ΔD) measured in rat mesentery during superfusion experiments. (A) No effect was seen with 1 mM sodium nitrite (NaNO₂) in 10% oxygenated solution (open circles), whereas increases in D were observed with hypoxic solution (solid circles).
