FzlC disrupts ΔCTL bundling in a CTC-dependent manner. A and B, electron micrographs of polymers formed by 4 μm FtsZ, ΔCTL, ΔCTC, or ΔCTLC with 2 mm GTP, 10 mm MgCl2, and 165 mm KCl in the absence (A) or presence (B) of 4 μm YFP-FzlC spotted on grids 15 min after addition of nucleotide. The difference in KCl concentration for this experiment is due to the high KCl concentration (300 mm) in FzlC storage buffer and low stock concentration of YFP-FzlC.
