As system form factor is reduced, tradeoffs between image quality (SNR, phase stability, resolution, weight, and scan speed) and portability must be managed. For later-stage systems, reducing cost becomes more of a concern as well. Eventually, image quality and system capabilities become more focused on meeting the needs of a clinical application or a commercial product at a specific price point.
