Cell proliferation was significantly suppressed in GC cells transfected with the miR-101 mimic compared with the controls (A). miR-101 overexpression also inhibited colony formation compared with the controls (B). The FACS analysis demonstrated that transfecting GC cells with the miR-101 mimic resulted in a greater accumulation of cells in the sub G1 phase compared to transfection with the controls (C). The apoptotic cell analysis showed that miR-101 overexpression increased early apoptosis (annexin V-positive/PI-negative) and late apoptosis (annexin V/PI-double positive) at 72 h in GC cells after miR-101 mimic transfection compared to that in GC cells after transfection with the controls (D). Transwell migration and invasion assays demonstrated that miR-101 suppressed the ability of GC cells to migrate and invade (E).
