Centrality in the grooming social network and age influence individual gut bacterial diversity. For 29 Verreaux's sifaka in Kirindy Mitea National Park, we estimated individual centrality by summing the duration of initiated and received grooming contacts. We calculated within-host phylotype richness using 100 rarefied OTU tables. Adults and individuals that frequently initiated and/or received grooming had more diverse gut microbial communities.
