Chromosome I of V. cholerae O1 biovar ElTor N16961 (reference) was compared with all available V. metoecus genomes and the strain M12v (sequenced in this study). Each ring represents a single color coded strain. Genomic islands are highlighted. Black boxes represent islands shared by V. cholerae and V. metoecus M12v while blue and red are used when ≥ 1 and 0 V. metoecus strains had the island, respectively.
