In this particular local failure, vascular density begins to increase as early as day 8, while tumor volume regrowth occurs later. The increase in the growth curve for both metrics demarcates the recurrence phase for local failure tumors, which is illustrated by the shaded region. The tumor volume and vascular density growth curves of local failure tumors in each dose group behaved similarly.
