Toxin neutralizing activity of Supercluster II antibodies does not correlate with inhibition of cell attachment. The IC50s of the Supercluster II VHHs (from Table 2) and their abilities to inhibit ricin attachment to (A) asialofetuin (ASF) and (B) THP-1 cells (from Table 3) were subjected to linear regression analysis, as described in the Materials and Methods. There was no correlation in either assay between a VHH’s ability to inhibit ricin attachment to receptors and toxin-neutralizing activity.
