SS, Ti, PEEK and Si3N4 implants (n=4) were exposed to overnight cultures (O.D. = 0.7 at 630nm) of USA300 as described in Figure 1. After air drying, the implants were added to 1ml of sterile saline, vortexed, and serial dilutions were plated on tryptic soy agar (TSA) plates and incubated at 37°C for 24hrs to determine CFUs. Data from one of the equivocal replicate experiments is presented. Representative examples to illustrate the CFUs on the dilution plates are shown (A), and the CFU data are presented as the mean +/− SD (B; *p<0.002 1-way ANOVA).
