Basic protocol: mice are inoculated intranasally with a filtrate of the fungus, Alternaria alternata (Aa) on days 0, 3 and 6 (50 μg/mouse in 50 μL per inoculation) followed by evaluation at multiple time points thereafter. B. Airway eosinophils recovered from wild-type mice have typical morphology, including a ring-shaped nucleus and red granules when stained with modified Giemsa, original magnification, 40X. C.
