Notable differences include slight reduction in β cell size (D) and a reduced insulin-specific immunoreactivity in HFD animals (E). These alterations were not observed in the diet-reversed animal group (G and H). Representative of n = 2 separate determinations, with islets isolated from 2 animals per experimental group.
