Spermidine and spermine block the inhibitory effect of Ant44 (5) on imaginal disc development. Spermidine (2) and spermine (3) were tested at different concentrations in the presence of Ant44 (5) and the percentage of imaginal disc development was recorded for each concentration. (a) Effective concentration of spermidine in blocking the inhibitory effect of Ant44 (5) on imaginal disc development; (b) Effective concentration of spermine in blocking the inhibitory effect of Ant44 (5) on imaginal disc development. Every data point was repeated at least in triplicate. Error bars reflect the standard error of the mean (SEM). Note: the EC₅₀ value is the concentration of the polyamine needed to block 50% of the inhibitory effect of Ant44 (5) on imaginal disc development.
