Recombinant fragment of human surfactant protein D (rfhSP-D) inhibits IgE production from B cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) culture. PBMCs obtained from individuals with allergy (n = 10) were stimulated with grass pollen allergen in the presence of IL-4, CD40L, and IL-21 for 14 days. Total IgE production from B cells was measured in the cell culture supernatants by ImmunoCAP assay in the presence of rfhSP-D and bovine serum albumin (BSA) (5 μg/ml).
