Hypoxia-responsive network in the placenta. miR-20a and miR-210 expression is upregulated via HIF1α. These miRNAs in turn regulate a broad spectrum of genes under hypoxia, including genes involved in mitochondrial biogenesis (ISCU), the respiratory chain (COX10), DNA double strand break repair (RAD52) and cell death (PTEN). miR-20a and miR-210 have both been shown to target HIF1α itself as well
