The ΔatmA mutant has a defective DNA replication checkpoint. Conidia were grown for 5 hr at 37° in complete medium (YG) + 100 mM HU then washed and incubated again in YG medium for different periods of time. The number of nuclei in each conidium was assessed by Hoescht staining (50 germlings were counted per each repetition, average of three independent experiments ± SD).
