Effects of acrolein on LPS-induced lung injury. Mice were intratracheally administered 2.5 mg/kg of acrolein or an equal volume of saline (vehicle control). Six hours after instillation of acrolein, mice were intratracheally challenged with 2.5 mg/kg of LPS or an equal volume of saline. The total BAL protein content (A), BAL cell count (B), and changes in mouse body weights (C) were determined 18 hours after instillation of LPS. Four mice per group were used for each panel.
