Inhibition (blockade and knockdown) of Kir4.1 channels activates the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway and enhances BDNF expression in astrocytes, which modulates the development of epilepsy (epileptogenesis) and other neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g., major depression).
