BBB disruption in mice treated with DOX or MTP. (A and B) DOX and MTP levels in the eyes of mice treated by intraperitoneal injections of 1 mg/kg. Samples labeled as controls were treated with 0.9% NaCl for 4 days, followed by an intraperitoneal injection of a single dose of DOX or MTP. Samples labeled as treated were injected with fingolimod for 4 days at a dose set to 1 mg/kg, followed by a single treatment with DOX or MTP. (C and D) The experimental design was identical to that described in (A) and (B) except that levels of DOX and MTP were measured in brain samples. Statistical significance was evaluated with a t test. Differences between groups that resulted in P values <0.05 were considered statistically significant.
