Key Assumptions for the Decision Analysis Model.

The base case is a pregnant, 26 year-old G1P0 presenting for cesarean delivery.
The reproductive lifespan is 19 years, from age 26 to 45.
Given its cumulative rarity, women who get a transfusion related illness are not at risk for future transfusion-related illnesses upon subsequent transfusions.
Women who die from hemorrhage will have received both allogeneic transfusion as well as emergent hysterectomy.
Women who undergo hysterectomy will have also received allogeneic transfusion with or without cell salvage, depending on the strategy being examined.
No significant risks are associated with the use of cell salvage.
