¹Level 1 predictors were the target emotional episodes as identified by observers. Episodes were dummy-coded such that the target emotional episode (the observer-identified episode that matched the FACS emotion category in each model; i.e., episodes where observers said children were feeling joy in the joy FACS expression model) served as the reference group in all models. Each model contained five dummy-coded predictors corresponding to γ_01, γ_02, γ_03, γ_04, and γ₀₅. Significant coefficients (p < .05) noted in bold.
