Table 3.
PWVand estimated PWV as predictors of a major CVD event (N = 4798). Multi-variable model adjusted for age, sex, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, pulse pressure, current smoking and diabetes mellitus. All continuous variables were log transformed. This table suggests that both measured PWV and our estimated PWV convey comparable risks for incident CVD in a model adjusted for standard risk factors. These results demonstrate that our estimated PWV is as effective as the measured PWV, such as sequential method, in predicting the risk for CVD.
| Hemodynamic Measures | Hazard Ratio Including Standard Risk Factors | p-value |
|---|---|---|
| PWV | 3.998 | 0.0002 |
| Estimated PWV | 4.43 | 0.008 |
