The average length of primary cilia was 1.49 μm in marrow cells away from the endosteal surface, 1.46 μm in marrow cells near the bone surface, 1.86 μm for the bone lining cells, and 1.65 μm for the osteocytes. Cilia were longer in osteocytes than in cells in the marrow near the bone surface (*p < 0.05, Kruskal–Wallis).
