LRET Lifetime Decays and Calculated C189-Kir1.1b Distances between Diagonally Opposite Subunits in the CTD

graphic file with name fx1.gif

Data were obtained from energy transfer between Tb donors and BODIPY-FL acceptors on tetrameric C189-Kir1.1b, self-assembled in proteoliposomes from single-Cys Cl89 dimers. τ denotes lifetime decay constants for donors and acceptor sensitized emission, f indicates fast donor state, and s indicates slow donor state. R0 is the distance corresponding to 50% energy transfer, and r is the donor acceptor distance at the designated pH. The average distance between diagonal Cl89 residues in the CTD was 33.2 ± 6 Å at pH 6 and 34.2 ± 6 Å at pH 8.
