Cartoons of the flagellar motor derived from (a) Salmonella, (b) B. subtilis, (c) V. alginolyticus, (d) C. jejuni and (e) B. burgdorferi. The schematic diagrams of the Salmonella, V. alginolytics, C. jejuni and B. burgdorfer flagellar motors are shown based on their in situ structures whereas the B. subtilis motor is drawn based on purified basal body structure with some speculations.
