Gleditsia saponin C treatment induces necrosis of tumor and promotes tumor cell apoptosis. (A) Necrosis and apoptosis were determined in tumor tissue of nude mice treated with GSC. Tumor necrosis areas were shown by H&E staining and observed under light microscope (×100). TUNEL assay was used to detect apoptotic cells (original magnification, ×200). (B) Tumor necrosis was determined by software Image J. Two sections/mouse and three mice were prepared (mean ± SD, ^∗p < 0.05, ^∗∗p < 0.01). (C) For apoptosis rate, three fields of the highest density of TUNEL positive cells in each section were counted to determine the percentage of apoptotic cells to total cells.
