Antitumor effect of ribavirin in malignant glioma cell lines. Ribavirin exerted a cell growth inhibitory effect in both the U-87MG and U-138MG cells. Although the U-138MG cells exhibited a significant suppression of cell proliferation, the effect of ribavirin on cell proliferation was less pronounced in comparison to that in the U-87MG cells. The results are expressed as the mean ± SE. *P<0.05 (Student's t-test).
