(A and B) The cyclase activity is linked to the (A) production of bacteriochlorophyll a (BChl a) and (B) assembly of photosynthetic complexes in Rba. capsulatus. (C) HPLC analysis of pigment methanol extracts from in vivo cyclase assays conducted with E. coli strains harboring either the pET3a (3a) or pET3a-acsF (acsF) plasmid. E. coli cultures were grown to an optical density at 600 nm (OD600) of 0.4 to 0.6 and then induced with isopropyl-β-d-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) and incubated with MgPME.
