FIG 2

Phylogenetic and phylogenomic trees of the genus Bifidobacterium. (a) Proteomic tree based on the concatenation of 262 bifidobacterial core genes identified in the pangenome analysis of the 55 type strains. Phylogenetic groups are highlighted in different colors. (b) 16S rRNA gene-based tree of the 55 type strains of the genus. Bifidobacterial species are colored according to their phylogenetic membership group. Each tree was constructed by the neighbor-joining method, and the genome sequence of Scardovia inopinata JCM 12537 was used as outgroup. Bootstrap percentages above 50 are shown at node points, based on 1,000 replicates of each phylogenetic tree.
