Pearls and Pitfalls of Superior Capsular Reconstruction With Rotator Cuff Repair

Pearls Pitfalls
Evaluation of muscular strength and bone defects in the glenoid and humeral head is paramount prior to the surgery.
A power rasp is useful to increase bone contact surface.
2 anchors must be placed using the Neviaser portal, at the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions.
If the patient lacks internal rotation, an inferior capsule release must be performed.
Perform this technique in patients with severe glenohumeral osteoarthritis or bone defects in the glenoid or humeral head.
Fixation of the graft in the wrong position can jeopardize the procedure.
Wrong measurements of the distance between the anchors.
Possible damage to suprascapular nerve.
