Millimolar minoxidil promotes angiogenesis. A chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay was performed in the presence of minoxidil (MXD), VEGF (20 ng/mL), VEGF (20 ng/mL)/VEGF-neutralizing antibody (anti-VEGF, 20 ng/mL), or MXD/anti-VEGF (20 ng/mL) and phosphate buffered saline (PBS) was used as a negative control. The number of vessel branch points was counted by two observers in a double-blind manner. Upper panel: Representative images of angiogenesis.
