Interspecific competition and purifying selection. We show the combined effect of interspecific competition (α₀₁ = α₁₀ = α) and purifying selection on the abundance of a parental species of class “1” with higher carrying capacity (K₁ = 2 K₀), but affected by a reduced fitness of allele “a” (n_L = 5, data obtained after 100 generations of independent evolution and 150 generations of hybridization).
