A proposed model of hypoxia-induced fibroblast proliferation through NFAT signaling. Hypoxia induces the HIF-2α expression in human pulmonary fibroblasts which activates the NFAT signaling. HIF-2α promotes the translocation of NFAT(c2) from cytoplasm to nucleus, which induces the expression of the genes responsible for cell proliferation.
