Cytokine analysis after HSV-2 +/− C. crescentus. Progesterone treated C57Bl/6 mice were infected intravaginally with 105 pfu HSV-2 strain 333 in the presence or absence of individual recombinant C. crescentus Cc-Control, Cc-BmKn2, Cc-Griffithsin or Cc-A1AT. Vaginal lavage fluid was collected prior to infection then 4, 24 and 48 hours post-infection and analyzed in a cytometric bead array for mouse inflammatory cytokines. (a) IFNγ (b) TNF (c) IL-6. N = 4–11 mice per group. For each cytokine statistics were performed using two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni’s correction for multiple comparisons.
