Allosteric activation of NagB by NanE. (A) Steady-state kinetics of NagB were determined as a function of the GlcN-6P concentration (0 to 15 mM) in the absence or presence of 0.7 μM NanE at pH 7.8. (B) The same steady-state kinetics of NagB activity at pH 6.8 and in the presence of the allosteric effector, 0.2 mM GlcNAc-6P, in the absence or presence of 0.7 μM NanE. The resultant kinetic parameters are presented in Table 2. The assay is described in Materials and Methods.
